Role Plays

How to make Role Plays fun

Role Plays, At the very thought of it many cringe. Depending on past experience with role plays many participants may feel that this form of learning is something to be dreaded.

The hardest obstacle for a trainer to overcome is the involvement of participants when it comes to role plays.

Role Plays are necessary for those learners who learn via a kinesthetic learning style.By making the role plays fun and enjoyable you will not only have participants becoming involved but you may even have them getting a little carried away.

We have a few suggestions here to make your next role play experience a fun one.

Tips for increasing role play activity:

  • Bring uniforms and outfits into the scenarios- this will encourage participants to act more and by wearing the cape you become the superhero.
  • Do not have to rehearsed scenarios- Start with something but then let the participants act as they feel. You may suggest several things yet do not make the participants do anything they do not wish to do.
  • Become involved as the trainer yourself. By making fun of yourself or being silly you take the pressure of the participants. This enables them to relax and be themselves.
  • Encourage the kinesthetic learners to start of the role plays. Secretly they are probably wanting to become involved.
  • Have several scenarios or suggestions so you can adapt for the age group or participants
  • Have some jelly beans or prizes for those who do a good job or volunteer. Good behaviour needs to be rewarded.
  • Be the first to show an example to your participants so they know exactly what to do

Hopefully with these tips you may take the uneasiness of role plays and have your participants asking for more.
